The 1999
"end of the millennium"
Denver Underground Music Awards

This year the fifth annual Digital Ball happened to fall on the same night
as the Denver Underground Music Awards, which added that little extra
complexity to the evening, since I certainly wanted to attend the former,
but I was also presenting awards at the latter. What to do, what to do?
Bounce back-and-forth between the two events, and be glad that both were
black tie formal....
Well, one was black tie, the other was black tie and black leather.
Some of the guests at the music awards interpreted "tie" in more
creative ways than I had, though I think my more traditional garb
was probably the right choice; I'm not sure how the 'society' types
at the Digital Ball would have taken to formal fetish wear....

*I*
know it's not really the end of the millennium, but, hey,
nobody else lets little details like that get in the way of a
marketing strategy. If it's good enough for "Millenios" cereal,
I'm sure it'll work for a music awards show.
And one-year-early or not, the Underground Music Awards show was
packed. Live performances by the FeWW, Three-Point-Oh, and Infinity
Waltz, awards for the best and the boldest in Denver's underground
music scene, plenty to keep the evening exciting.
